Fortum supports Save the Children to respond to crises and conflicts

The need for humanitarian aid is currently at an unprecedented level. One in five children worldwide are either living in or fleeing from a conflict zone, and even half of all children, or one billion, live in countries where the risks associated with climate change are very high. Children living in the midst of wars, other conflicts of, natural disasters or experience things that no child ever should.

Our corporate partner, Fortum, supports our work in emergencies and conflicts and has made a donation of 200,000 euros to help children affected by emergencies.

“At Fortum, we believe that everything possible must be done to protect children from harm. The dramatic escalation of violence in the occupied Palestinian territory and Israel, and the ongoing war in Ukraine are deeply worrying and have horrifying consequences for children’s lives and well-being. Fortum and Save the Children have been collaborating for a long time. We are confident that the donation to the Children’s Emergency Fund will be used where it is needed most,” says Tomas Qvickström, Fortum’s Vice President, Corporate Sustainability.

Save the Children is one of the world’s largest child-focused humanitarian non-governmental organizations. Through donations to the Children’s Emergency Fund from businesses and individuals, we can respond quickly to a crisis anywhere in the world. We secure children’s survival and well-being by distributing essential basic supplies, ensuring access to critical services, and supporting the livelihoods of families caught up in emergencies.
