UPM continues partnership with Save the Children to support children in conflict areas

Material solutions company UPM is continuing its support for Save the Children this year to help children and families living in war-torn areas, such as Ukraine and Gaza.

“Children often bear the greatest emotional and physical burden in conflict zones. Humanitarian organizations like Save the Children have the expertise and resources to coordinate and deliver the necessary aid effectively,” says Kaisa Vainikka, UPM’s Director of Social Responsibility. “Our support focuses on youth and children, who are often in the most vulnerable position.”

Thanks to UPM’s support, Save the Children has been able to:

  • provide emergency relief and shelter for children and families who have lost their homes,
  • deliver food and clean water in crisis areas,
  • offer psychological support to children suffering from war-related trauma,
  • ensure access to education through safe spaces and temporary learning environments.

“With UPM’s support we can continue our humanitarian work in the most challenging conditions to safeguard children’s survival. With their support we will also be able to ensure that children’s learning can continue during emergencies,” says Anne Haaranen, Director of International Programs at Save the Children Finland.
