Youth form
You can use the form on this page to report to the Finnish Hotline if you suspect that an adult, or someone you believe may be an adult, has acted inappropriately toward you online or offline. A suspicion is enough to make a report; you do not need to be certain about the person’s age or whether their behavior was illegal. You can also submit a report on behalf of a friend or about their experience.
Reporting is important, even if the situation doesn’t seem serious.
By making a report, you can also help other young people who might be in a similar situation.
In addition to reporting, tell a trusted adult about what happened. This is very important! Remember, adults want to help and support you.
-
- Describe thoroughly what has happened and where.
-
- Write down your age or the age of the person you are reporting in behalf of.
-
- Write down who has acted inappropriately against you or another young person. Write down this person’s name or their online username and what they have told you about themselves.
-
- If possible, attach screenshots of your conversation and the user and any possible shared images to the report.
-
- We encourage you to leave us your contact information, so that we can further solve the situation. If you give us your email address or your phone number, a hotline worker will respond to you.
You can report about all sexual abuse both online and offline. As an example you can report:
-
- If a person clearly older than you sends you a nude image of themselves or asks you for a nude image.
-
- If a person clearly older than you sends you sexually explicit messages, meeting requests or pornographic material or links.
-
- If a nude or intimate photo/video of you is being spread online, or someone is threatening to spread it online. The age of the person who is spreading your image does not matter.
-
- If a person clearly older than you asks you personal or uncomfortable questions online, for example, if you have a girl or boyfriend or if you have ever kissed anyone.
- If someone has touched you sexually without your consent. The age of the person does not matter.
Note! You do not need to be certain about the persons age! Don’t hesitate to report it!
We encourage you to clearly write down your contact information and other relevant information, so that the situation can be solved as thoroughly as possible.
Providing this information to authorities is important, so you can receive the help you need.
Contact details and/or personal data recorded on the form are not disclosed to the police unless the police specifically requests it or unless the reported information creates a legal obligation to notify authorities (such as the police and child protection services).
A legal obligation to notify is created every time the Finnish Hotline suspects a child has faced sexual abuse.
The IP address of the sender of the Youth Form is stored automatically. This IP-address can be disclosed to police authorities through an official request.
