PROJECT PARTNERS

The Finnish Internet Awareness is a joint project of three significant partners Save the Children Finland, Mannerheim League for Child Welfare and the Finnish Communications Regulatory Authority (FICORA). The organizations have the most visible role in Finland in the discussions related to the internet safety, media education and children’s safety related to the digital media.

Finnish Communications Regulatory Authority (FICORA)

FICORA is the national communications regulatory authority of Finland. The core of FICORA's operations lies in information-secure society and interference-free communications networks, effectively functioning communications markets and securing the consumers' position.

Concerning information safety and security, FICORA sees to the functionality of electronic communications networks and information security and reports of eventual information security threats. The key areas of responsibilities include, e.g., CERT-FI activities, steering and monitoring the protection of communications confidentiality, ensuring interference-free and safe telecommunications.

In addition to this, FICORA's objective is to increase the awareness of information safety and security in homes and companies for example by means of arranging the Safer Internet Day annually in large co-operation. FICORA itself does only a little information safety awareness work that is directed to the citizens whereas it is the purpose of the SID project to do awareness work directly to the citizens and especially to the pupils in comprehensive schools.
